that sound like you need to stay on coordinates for three days!
however because seb111 unfriended I lost my ships but the three day counter in mission tab is still going down!
so I think this means I need to come back to the ark in three days? if this is right it should read
"you need to return in three days to collect samples"

yes should say "return after 3 days" otherwise it makes it sound like you have to stay at the ark for 3 days
